The Moses Kotane Local Municipality officially kickstarted its LED Biz Funding Support Roadshow in Madikwe on Monday, 19 October 2026.
The roadshow, led by the municipality’s Local Economic Development (LED) Directorate, aims to assist small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) with information and guidance on accessing funding, formalising their businesses, identifying markets and improving their ability to operate and grow sustainably.
During her opening and welcome address, Mayor Cllr Nketu Nkotswe welcomed businesses and participating stakeholders, highlighting the importance of providing entrepreneurs with access to information and support services that can help them overcome challenges and grow their businesses.
The Mayor encouraged business owners to take advantage of the roadshow by engaging directly with funding institutions and relevant government departments to understand the available opportunities and requirements for business support. She emphasised that access to the right information is essential in helping businesses improve compliance, explore funding opportunities and identify ways to expand their businesses.
LED Director Mrs Nono Maribe said the municipality had partnered with various stakeholders to address the challenges faced by local businesses, particularly the lack of start-up capital, limited access to markets and difficulties in meeting business compliance requirements.
Mrs Maribe further highlighted the importance of registering businesses on the municipality’s LED database to improve the municipality’s understanding of local businesses.
“The initiative seeks to provide SMMEs with information on funding opportunities, business plans, costing and financial management, market access and services offered by institutions such as the South African Revenue Service (SARS)”, Ms. Maribe said.
