On Wednesday, 22 April 2026, the Moses Kotane Local Municipality continued its second round of public participation for the 2026/2027 Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and budget at the Mabodisa Community Hall in Moruleng, under Cluster 2.
Community members from Wards 9, 22, 31, and 32 actively participated in the session, engaging with municipal representatives regarding planned service delivery programs and development priorities for the upcoming financial year.
Cllr Dithothi Tshetlhane, the MMC for Planning and Development, highlighted the session’s intent to showcase projects that have already been budgeted for implementation in the 2026/2027 financial year.
Mr. Mzwandile Mkhize, the Chief Financial Officer, presented the draft budget, offering insights on how the municipality intends to allocate its financial resources.
Ms. Gontse Sekudu from Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine presented the Social Labor Plans (SLP), outlining several initiatives aimed at enhancing community welfare and development. She emphasized the mine’s commitment to responsible mining practices and mentioned other successful projects that have positively impacted local communities, such as infrastructure development, educational programs, and health services.
Throughout the session, community members voiced their concerns and sought clarification on various service delivery issues, including the state of internal roads, challenges with water supply, the need for high mast light installations, and plans for electrifying new households. Residents also took the opportunity to acknowledge the municipality’s progress in several areas.
