Mogwase- The Moses Kotane Local Municipality has once again demonstrated its commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable development by hosting a highly successful IDP Rep Forum.
The forum focused on the five-year strategic planning cycle from 2026 to 2031, as well as the annual planning for the financial year 2026/2027.
The forum drew a remarkable turnout, reflecting the spirit of “one government” in action. Representatives from the private sector, sector departments, mining houses, community development workers, councillors, municipal officials, local businesses, traditional leadership, and community stakeholders all came together to engage in a unified planning process.
This inclusive participation underscored the municipality’s vision of collective ownership in shaping the development agenda for 107 Villages and 2 Townships.
At the heart of the discussions were strategies to stimulate economic growth, enhance service delivery, attract investment, and strengthen social cohesion. The forum also highlighted Social and Labour Plan (SLP) service delivery projects, ensuring that mining-led developments are aligned with municipal priorities and community needs.
The municipality applauded the local mining houses for their progressive planning that has been seamlessly incorporated into the broader municipal development framework. Their collaboration is seen as a catalyst for infrastructure development, job creation, and socio-economic upliftment within Moses Kotane communities.
In her welcome address, Mayor Cllr. Nketu Nkotswe encouraged all stakeholders to ensure that this planning phase translates into tangible results for residents. “This must be the planning that heightens developments and brings essential services closer to our people. Our task is to align every initiative with the needs and priorities of our communities. Together, we can transform Moses Kotane into a hub of opportunity and growth,” she concluded.
The Integrated Representative Forum has reaffirmed that when government, business, and communities work hand in hand, the outcome is sustainable development and a shared vision of prosperity. As Moses Kotane Local Municipality looks ahead to 2026 and beyond, the foundation has been laid for impactful, people-centered progress.
