Safe and Clean City Campaign

Renewed determination to keep maximizing environmental sustainability and service delivery through the Safe and Clean City Campaign
The Moses Kotane Local Municipality (MKLM) has been steadfast in its commitment to environmental sustainability and services through its “Safe and Clean City Campaign.” Launched on 29 November 2019 in Welgevaal, this initiative aims to transform the municipality into a cleaner, safer, and more livable environment for all residents despite challenges of resources municipality face.
The campaign is a collaborative effort involving various internal municipal departments, including Community Services, Environment and Waste Management, Parks, Infrastructure and Technical Services, Water & Sanitation, Roads and Stormwater. By uniting these departments, MKLM ensures a comprehensive approach to service delivery as well as conducive environment.
This week since Monday, the campaign began at Mogwase, aiming against:
Illegal Dumping: Regular clean-ups using heavy machinery like front-end loaders, TLBs, and tipper trucks have been conducted to remove illegal dumps.
Litter Picking and Grass Cutting: Public spaces, such as Unit 4 Park, have undergone litter collection and grass cutting, enhancing their usability and improved appeal.

Stormwater Channel Maintenance: Cleaning and maintenance of stormwater channels have been prioritized to prevent flooding and maintain infrastructure integrity.
These efforts are part of MKLM’s broader strategy to promote green environmental awareness.
The “Safe and Clean City Campaign” reflects MKLM’s dedication to creating a sustainable and healthy environment, aligning with its Integrated Development Plan and fostering a sense of community pride.
