Mogwase – The Infrastructure & Technical Services (ITS) Portfolio Committee of the Moses Kotane Local Municipality embarked on a two-day project visit to the current municipal service delivery projects on 13 – 14 June 2017.
The project visit was aimed at giving members of the committee an insight on the progress on the projects, interact with contractors, consultants and project steering committees.
Programme entailed brief stakeholder session at the construction site-office followed by project walk-about.
Outlining the purpose of the visit, portfolio head of infrastructure & technical services, Clr Ezekiel Mashimo indicated that a resolution was taken at the portfolio committee meeting to regularly visit the municipal projects to monitor progress and provide oversight as expected.
“It is important for us as the municipality to regularly check the quality and progress of the current projects to ensure that challenges are addressed immediately to avoid project delays or having incomplete projects as some of the complaints that are raised by communities during public consultation meetings,” said Clr Mashimo.
He further affirmed that the portfolio committee will continue with project visits in order to compile own reports with accurate or exact progress happening at the project sites.
